Tires are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste, due to the large volume produced, their durability, and the fact they contain a number of components that are ecologically problematic. It is estimated that 259 million tires are discarded annually (for years in the 1980s and 1990s).
There are a couple of advantages of reclaiming discarded tires. First of all they are black, and everyone knows black goes with everything. Another great advantage is that tires are meant to be durable, that means that whatever we use them for they will last a LONG time.
Another advantage of tires is that tires are pretty comfortable. I am pretty certain that sitting on a tire right now will be more comfortable than the desk chair I am writing this from (which makes me seriously consider upgrading my desk chair).
If you are 30 years or older chances are that at some point of your childhood you used a tire swing, and it is my belief that all kids should!
At Revampt we are trying to do our part and find as many uses as we can for old tires. We have a wide line of tire derived products. If you or someone you know has a cool concept for reusing tires, please share it with us!
Daniel Louis decided to take a different approach to the green revolution. Instead of focusing broadly on the ever increasing number of “eco-friendly” products, Daniel has chosen to focus on products made from resources already in existence. Our reclaimed home furnishings are individually selected for their utility, creativity, and unique re-purposed nature. Our incredible home products are fabricated from the most unsuspecting raw materials; bicycle wheels, sails, tires, dilapidated machinery, and more. Please check back soon for more details as we continue to hand pick these one-of-a-kind reclaimed goods!
